Samsung M105 won't play vcds

I have a samsung m105 dvd player hacked to be multi region however dispite saying on the dvd player that it plays vcds none that i have play instead the player only comes up a disc error - no disc it comes up with all vcds that i try. the dvd player is run through a video machine does anyone know why the machine will not play vcds. is it because its hacked or is it because its run through a vcr can someone please help me.
