Answer: Region 1 DVD's are encoded with (American) NTSC signals. The colour information is encoded differently to PAL, and typically the output will be 60Hz refresh rate, not 50Hz, as in UK PAL. So, it looks as though your TV can handle 60Hz refresh rate, but can't handle NTSC colour information. Hope this helps.
